Product Definition

   Lightweight Stone Panels are prefabricated panels composed of natural stone chips or mineral powder compounded with polymer materials. They present the texture and color of natural stone on the surface, but the weight per unit area is only one-tenth to one-fifth that of natural stone.

   Different from traditional dry-hanging stone, this product does not require embedded keels, angle steels or back bolt systems, nor does it require additional reinforcement of the building structure. It is directly fixed on the base wall by gluing or simple hangers, and is suitable for exterior renovation of existing buildings, light steel structure buildings, and any projects with strict restrictions on wall load.

2.Why is it Lightweight?

The "lightweight" of Lightweight Stone Panels comes from three aspects:

1.Substrate Replacement
   Natural stone weighs about 2500–2800 kg per cubic meter. The core layer of Lightweight Stone Panels uses lightweight materials—such as aluminum honeycomb (density about 80–120 kg/m³) or rigid polyurethane foam (density about 400–500 kg/m³)—instead of solid stone. Only the 2–4 mm thick decorative layer on the surface contains natural minerals.

2.Thin Design
   When natural stone is used for exterior walls, its thickness is usually more than 25–30 mm to ensure flexural strength. Lightweight Stone Panels use a composite structure (thin surface layer + high-strength core layer) to achieve the same or even higher flexural performance with a total thickness of 12–15 mm.

3.Closed-Cell Structure
   For models with polyurethane core, the closed-cell rate exceeds 95%, which is non-water-containing and non-water-absorbent. Compared with natural stone (usually water absorption 0.5%–3%), it will not gain weight due to water absorption during long-term use.

3.Structural Layers

   Lightweight Stone Panels adopt a four-layer composite structure, from outside to inside in turn:

   The four-layer structure is compounded at one time in the factory. The in-mold coating process ensures the deep integration of color and base material, and even slight surface wear will not reveal the difference in the base color. The closed-cell rate of the pure PU raw material layer exceeds 95%, which is the core of the panel's light weight, high strength and non-water absorption.

Installation Methods

1.Gluing Method (Most Commonly Used)

• Adhesive: Polyurethane structural adhesive or epoxy resin adhesive
• Gluing: Apply adhesive in strips or dots on the back of the panel, and the gluing area shall not be less than 60% (for exterior walls)
• Pressing and Pasting: Calibrate with a level, tap lightly with a rubber hammer, and fix with temporary support for 24 hours

2.Simple Hanger Method (High-Rise Buildings or Wind Pressure Areas)

• Prefabricated notches on the back of the panel, matched with stainless steel hanging pieces
• Hanger bases are pre-installed on the base course, and the panel can be clamped in
• Can be used with gluing for double fixation

Cutting and Punching

• Use cemented carbide saw blades or jigsaws
• Feed the knife from the back to avoid chipping of the front coating
• Seal the cut with color-matched sealant at the punched hole

1.What is the difference between Lightweight Stone Panels and PU Simulated Stone Panels?

   PU Simulated Stone Panels  have three-dimensional relief textures reproduced by molds, imitating the masonry effect. Lightweight Stone Panels have a flat surface (or slight texture), imitating polished or matte natural stone slabs, and the visual effect is closer to granite and marble.

2.Is its surface real stone?

   The surface decorative layer contains natural stone powder or quartz sand, which is pressed after mixing with resin. The vision and touch are close to stone, but the composition is not a whole piece of natural stone. The layered structure can be seen from the section.

3.Can it be used for high-rise exterior walls?

   Yes. The aluminum honeycomb core model has a fire rating of A2, strong wind pressure resistance, and extremely light weight, which is very friendly to the curtain wall system. It is recommended to use double fixation of gluing + hangers.

4.Will it effloresce like natural stone?

   No. Efflorescence is caused by the migration and precipitation of alkaline substances in cement mortar with water. Lightweight Stone Panels are installed by gluing, without using cement mortar, and the panels themselves are impermeable, so there is no condition for efflorescence.

5.Can it be used in bathrooms or swimming pools?

   Yes, but it is necessary to ensure that the back and cuts are completely sealed. The water absorption rate is less than 0.5%, and it will not expand or mold in a long-term humid environment. It is recommended to apply sealant to all cuts before installation.

6.How to clean and maintain it?

   It can be wiped with a damp cloth daily. For stubborn stains, neutral detergent can be used. The surface protective layer has anti-graffiti properties, and spray paint can be wiped off with a special remover. No regular sealing treatment is required.

7.How to obtain samples?

   200×200 mm samples are provided free of charge (freight collect). Colors and textures can be customized as required, with a minimum order quantity of 300 square meters.

8.What is the warranty period?

   Standard 10 years, covering coating fading, delamination and deformation. The aluminum honeycomb core model can be extended to 15 years.
