1.Product Overview

   Polyurethane Mud Brick Panel (Panel Type A) is a lightweight wall decoration material with high-density rigid polyurethane foam as the base material and a simulated mud brick coating on the surface. Through the precision mold replication process, the product truly restores the rough texture, edge collision marks and natural color difference of traditional hand-made mud bricks (clay bricks, red bricks, weathered bricks), while solving the practical problems of natural mud bricks such as heavy weight, long construction period and high requirements on building structure.

   The surface of the product is coated with a weather-resistant protective layer, which is suitable for various indoor and outdoor environments. Its closed-cell polyurethane structure endows the material with physical properties such as waterproof, thermal insulation and impact resistance, and can be used as an engineering alternative to natural brick materials.

3.Material Characteristics and Application Adaptation

3.1 Core Characteristics

  • Low Density and Light Weight: The weight of a single panel is about 1.58kg, and the weight per square meter is about 7.3kg, which is only about 1/6 of the weight of a solid clay brick wall with the same coverage area. This feature significantly reduces the requirements on the building's load-bearing structure, and is suitable for scenarios such as light steel keel partition walls and old wall renovation and covering.
  • High-Fidelity Simulated Brick Texture: The mold is directly replicated from real hand-made mud bricks, and the surface reproduces the fine cracks formed when the brick blank dries, the color difference changes during the firing process, and the edge wear marks after long-term weathering. It has an obvious sense ofconcavity and convexity when touched, and there is no obvious difference from real bricks visually.
  • Convenient Construction: The panels can be cut with ordinary woodworking saws or utility knives. During installation, construction structural adhesive (polyurethane-based or epoxy-based) is directly used to paste on the flat base surface, and stainless steel screws can be optionally used for auxiliary fixation. Compared with the traditional bricklaying process, it does not require mortar mixing, brick wetting, wall maintenance and other processes, and the installation efficiency can be improved by about 70%–80%.
  • Weather Resistance and Fire Resistance: The surface coating has no obvious color difference and chalking after UV aging test (1000h QUV). The material meets the Class B1 flame-retardant standard and self-extinguishes when away from fire. Its closed-cell structure endows it with waterproof ability, and it does not absorb water or deform under water spraying conditions.

4.Surface Texture and Process Description

   The surface of the PU mud brick panel is realized through a precision mold transfer process. The mold is replicated from real mud bricks, retaining the irregular boundaries, slight depressions and granular texture of natural materials. The coating adopts a multi-layer spraying process, with the bottom layer as an adhesion enhancement layer, and the surface layer as a coloring layer and a weather-resistant protective layer. The edges of the panels have no preset lap or tenon structure. During installation, the overall effect is achieved by natural tight splicing between panels or reserved joint gaps (3–8mm). The backboard is flat and can be directly glued and bonded.

   The product can provide OEM/ODM customization services, including color matching, texture depth adjustment and production of non-standard sizes.

  • Q: What are the main differences in physical properties between this product and real mud bricks?
  • A: The biggest differences between PU mud brick panels and real mud bricks lie in density and thermal conductivity. Its density is about 1/6 of that of real bricks, and its thermal conductivity (about 0.03 W/m·K) is much lower than that of clay bricks (about 0.8 W/m·K), which has a certain auxiliary thermal insulation effect. However, the thermal expansion coefficient of PU material is higher than that of inorganic bricks. In environments with large temperature differences (such as summer and winter), expansion joints should be reserved or flexible joints should be used.
  • Q: What installation details need to be paid attention to when using it on exterior walls?
  • A: For exterior wall installation, weather-resistant PU structural adhesive or stainless steel mechanical anchoring should be selected. It is recommended to reserve a 5–8mm gap between panels and fill it with neutral weather-resistant sealant to absorb thermal expansion and contraction deformation. The base surface should be dry, flat and free of floating dust, and concrete or cement leveling layer is preferred. Avoid construction under direct sunlight, which may cause rapid curing of the adhesive.
  • Q: What is the waterproof principle of this material? Can it be used in shower areas?
  • A: Polyurethane foam has a closed-cell structure, and the cells are not connected to each other, so the material itself does not absorb water. The surface coating further improves water resistance. It can be used for dry area walls in bathrooms (such as washstand backgrounds), but it is not recommended for shower area floors or areas with long-term water accumulation, because the water tightness at the panel joints depends on adhesives and sealants, and there is a risk of water seepage after long-term immersion.
  • Q: Will the surface coating age? What is the expected service life?
  • A: Under non-extreme climate conditions (no acid rain, no continuous high salt spray environment), the anti-chalking life of the coating is about 8–10 years. After this period, slight discoloration or decreased surface gloss may occur, which can be maintained by cleaning and then repainting with water-based outdoor varnish.
