Why Don‘t Building Material Store Owners Recommend PS Wall Panels? I Asked Three Owners

Why Don‘t Building Material Store Owners Recommend PS Wall Panels? I Asked Three Owners

When I was renovating, I visited several building material markets. When I asked about PS wall panels, some owners said “never heard of it,” some said “that stuff isn’t good,” and some just didn’t respond. Later, after I got to know one owner, he told me the truth.

Today I’ll write down what I heard from three owners. It’s not educational – it’s more like gossip. But after you read it, you’ll understand why this good product is hard to find offline.

Owner A: sells ceramic tiles, been in business for 20 years

“That plastic board? I don’t sell it. Not because it’s bad – because after I sell it, there’s no follow-up business.”

He counted on his fingers: when he sells tiles, the customer also buys cement, sand, grout, and hires a tiler. The whole package costs more than the tiles themselves. A few years later, if they want to change? Rip everything out and repeat the whole process.

“With PS panels? You take them home and stick them on yourself. What can I sell you afterwards? Adhesive? A few cents per tube. Edge trims? A few cents per meter. No profit.”

He didn’t say it like a complaint – more like a helpless fact.

Owner B: sells wallpaper, in his forties

“I used to carry PS panels, but I stopped.”

“Why?”

“A customer looked at the panels and then at the wallpaper. I talked about the wallpaper for ten minutes. He asked how much the PS panels cost. I told him. He said ‘Then why didn’t you say so earlier?’ And he left.”

“After that, I stopped displaying them. If I put them out, I can’t sell wallpaper. One roll of wallpaper makes me a lot of profit. One PS panel makes me almost nothing. Which one would you choose?”

He didn’t say PS panels are bad. He just made the choice that was best for him.

Owner C: runs a small shop that sells a bit of everything

He was the only one willing to tell me the real story.

“This product – you should buy it online. Online, a panel sells for X, and I buy it for Y. The margin is decent. But think about it: a customer comes to my shop, I spend half an hour showing samples and chatting. Then they go home, search online, find it cheaper, and don’t buy from me.”

“I also have an online shop. But the physical store is just for people to see samples. Most sales happen online. Rent, labor, utilities – it all adds up. If it weren’t for repeat customers bringing new ones, I would have closed long ago.”

He sighed. “If you want to buy, add me on WeChat and I’ll send you a link. I’m not displaying samples in the store anymore – they take up too much space.”

After listening to these three owners, I understood three things

First, it’s not that PS panels are bad – it’s that they’re too easy to install.

No extra materials, no workers, no follow-up service. That’s great for consumers, but a nightmare for sellers. Sell once, and there’s no second sale.

Second, offline channels no longer want to promote them.

Low profit, high display cost, too much price transparency. Owners would rather sell products where prices aren’t obvious. You never know how much a roll of wallpaper really costs, but you can easily check how much a PS panel sells for online.

Third, if you want to buy PS panels, the best place is online or directly from a factory.

Skip the middlemen, save on rent and labor. You get a lower price, and the factory makes a fair margin. You just have to spend a bit more time looking at samples, reading reviews, and learning how to install from videos.

In the end, I bought mine online

From the store you’re looking at now. I ordered samples first – touched them, smelled them, scratched them with a knife. Only after I was satisfied did I place the full order.

The price was nearly half of what I was quoted at the building material market. I installed them myself and saved on labor. More than two years later, no problems at all.

So if you ask me whether PS wall panels are worth buying – I’d say yes. But if you ask whether you can find them in a physical store – I’d say it’s hard, and don’t take what store owners say too seriously. It’s not that the product is bad – it’s that selling it doesn’t make them enough money.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Where is your factory located?
A: No. 10-1 Lianhong Road, Yuanhua Town, Haining City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Q2: So you’re saying I shouldn’t go to physical stores – just buy online? Is it reliable?
Reliable, but you must order samples first. Online photos can be edited – the actual color may differ. Ask the seller to send samples – it costs just a few dollars.

Q3: Could I find cheap PS panels at a building material market?
Maybe, but you’d need to haggle. Also, many markets sell panels made from recycled material – cheap but brittle. Ask whether it’s virgin material. The owner might not even know.

Q4: Would a contractor refuse to install PS panels?
Some do. They finish too quickly, and it’s awkward for them to charge a full day’s labor. Pay them by the square meter instead, or just do it yourself.

Q5: Aren’t you afraid of offending building material market owners by writing this?
I’m not offending anyone – I’m stating facts. Buying and selling are both voluntary. I just want to help people avoid unnecessary detours.

Q6: What if the panels you send me look different from the sample?
Keep the sample. Compare it with the full order. If there’s an obvious difference, we’ll replace or refund. We want you to trust us – we won’t let you lose out.
