PU Stone Supports Customization for Designers' Arbitrary Texture and Color Requirements

   Designers who have worked on commercial spaces or high-end private residences all understand: no matter how beautiful the design scheme is, material selection often requires compromise. The Pantone color requested by the client is unavailable; the unique texture desired—stone factories think mold opening is too expensive, and woodworking factories say curved surfaces cannot be made. In the end, you have to settle for a similar color and texture, resulting in a greatly compromised effect. PU stone is different: textures are accurately replicated by molds, colors are mixed according to Pantone numbers, and metallic wire drawing, gradient, matte and high-gloss finishes are all achievable. 1.Texture Customization: From Stone Grain to Weave, From Geometry to Curved Surfaces

   The texture of natural stone is naturally formed, and you cannot control its direction, density, or color depth. Sometimes clients want a "less veined" marble effect, but after searching the stone market for a long time, each slab has a different grain, making the wall look messy when installed.

   PU stone textures are created using molds. Designers provide a reference image or hand-drawn draft, and the factory can model it on a computer and then carve the corresponding mold. The granularity of granite, the flowing veins of marble, the flaky peeling of slate, and even the annual rings of wood grain and the woven texture of cloth can all be restored through molds.

   In addition, although PU stone is a slab (conventional thickness 12-30mm), due to its light weight and bendability (within a certain radius), it can be used for special-shaped parts such as column wrapping and curved walls. Compared with natural stone dry hanging, which requires cutting stones into small pieces and then joining them into arcs, PU stone can be directly made into curved slabs by opening molds, which can be installed in one piece on site without seams.

2.Color Customization: Metallic Colors and Gradient Colors Are Achievable

   Color is the most sensitive dimension for designers. The color of natural stone is limited by mineral veins—do you want pure black? Indian Black Galaxy may have gold spots. Do you want warm gray? Many stones are actually cool-toned. Moreover, there is a large color difference between different batches of stone, making replenishment almost impossible.

   The color of PU stone is completely controllable. Its surface coating is completed in the factory through UV spraying or transfer printing processes, and the color paste can be accurately mixed according to Pantone numbers or RAL color cards. Light beige, linen gray, olive green, dark wine red, Klein blue—whatever color you want, we can mix it for you.

   The sampling speed is also fast. Conventional stone/wood grain sampling takes about 7-10 days to produce samples, and Pantone solid color sampling can be sent out in 3-5 days. This response speed is crucial for design projects with tight construction periods.

3.Why Designers Are Increasingly Favoring PU Stone Customization

   Compared with traditional materials, the advantages of PU stone in customization are as follows:

   PU stone combines plasticity and durability—it not only has three-dimensional concave-convex (depth up to several millimeters) brought by molds, but also precise colors brought by coatings, and at the same time has properties such as Class B1 fire resistance, zero formaldehyde, waterproof and moisture-proof, and lightweight. Designers no longer have to sacrifice form for function.

4.Real Case: A Shenzhen Boutique Uses PU Stone to Create a Brand-Exclusive Wall

Project Background

   In 2025, a boutique in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, positioned as a "collection of emerging designer brands", was preparing to open. The store covers an area of about 180 square meters, divided into two floors. The brand manager hoped that the entire space would have an iconic brand color—a low-saturation color between mint green and gray-blue, and the wall would have a delicate wavy concave-convex texture, echoing the water wave element in the brand logo.

   The designer contacted five or six material suppliers. Natural stone was first ruled out—there was no such color, and the texture could not be made. Art paint could make colors and simple textures, but the client was worried about poor impact resistance and difficult maintenance. Custom wavy aluminum panels could be made, but the metal texture was too cold, the sound reflection was large, and the price was high.

Selection Process

   Later, the designer saw PU stone at an interior decoration exhibition. Several on-site sample geometric texture panels immediately gave him an idea: since PU stone can be made into any texture with molds and can be color-matched, why not make the water wave texture and brand color at one time? He contacted the manufacturer and provided three files: a vector diagram of the water wave pattern, color number 15-5219, and the surface requirement of "low-gloss matte".

   The manufacturer sent two samples—300×300mm samples—within 10 days. The designer took the samples to the store site and compared them repeatedly under different lighting (natural light, spotlights, warm light), confirming that the color and texture fully met the expectations. The client immediately made a decision after seeing the samples: this is the one.

Effect and Feedback

   After the store opened, this wavy brand-colored wall became a "Internet-famous check-in spot". Many customers' first thing when entering the store was to stand in front of the wall to take photos and post them on Xiaohongshu. The brand manager specifically mentioned in an interview with the media: "This color and texture are our visual symbols, which other stores cannot copy. Moreover, the wall is not afraid of scratches, and it still looks as new as half a year after opening."

   When the designer reviewed the project later, he said: "The biggest advantage of choosing PU stone is that you no longer have to struggle between 'ideal' and 'reality'. Whatever color you want, we can mix it; whatever texture you want, we can make it. The client is satisfied, the construction is smooth, and the final effect is almost the same as the design rendering."
