PS Wall Panels Buying Guide: Don’t Just Look at Price – These 4 Points Matter Most

Some PS wall panels online cost as little as a few dollars per square meter, while others are ten times more expensive. The patterns look similar – so why the huge price gap? Are cheap panels always bad? What exactly are you paying for with the expensive ones?

This article won’t start with product selling points. Instead, it tells you directly: what to look for, what to ask, and what to avoid when buying PS wall panels. Whether you’re renovating your own home or buying wholesale, these 4 key points will help you avoid costly mistakes.

1. Raw Material: Virgin Material vs. Recycled Material

The base material of a PS panel determines its brittleness and durability.

  • Virgin material– Milky white or off-white in color. Good flexibility – bends without cracking. Stays strong for 5–6 years or more.
  • Recycled material– Grayish or dull in color. Very brittle – you can feel it when bending. Easily chips during installation and may even crack on its own over time.

How to check? Ask the seller for a small sample. Try to bend it with normal installation force. Recycled material will make a “crack crack” sound or even break completely. Also, look at the back of the panel – virgin material looks clean, while recycled material often has black specks or impurities.

2. Surface Layer: Print Quality & Wear Layer

PS panels achieve wood-grain or marble looks through a printed layer. But above that print is a clear wear layer – and that’s where much of the cost difference comes from.

  • Good wear layer– Scratch it lightly with a key – no mark left. Wipe it 100 times with a damp cloth – the pattern remains sharp.
  • Poor wear layer– After just two months, frequently wiped areas lose their pattern. Or the surface is too soft – furniture leaves permanent dents.

How to check? Scratch firmly with your fingernail or gently with a key. A good panel will only show a dust mark that wipes away, not a groove or indentation.

3. Environmental Safety: No Formaldehyde or Bad Odors

PS material itself contains no formaldehyde. But some small factories use cheap solvents in their inks or backing adhesives, resulting in a pungent smell.

How to check? Ask the seller for a test report – look for “formaldehyde not detected” or a rating of E0/E1. Also, ask for a freshly produced sample and smell it up close. If there’s a strong chemical odor, avoid it.

4. Supplier: Manufacturer or Middleman?

Many sellers of PS panels online do not own a factory. They just buy from wholesale markets and mark up the price. The biggest problem with such sellers: when something goes wrong, they can’t help – color differences, batch mismatches for reorders, or no one to return to.

How to check? Simply ask: “Where is your factory? Can I see your workshop on video?” A real manufacturer will give you a clear address and contact info. A middleman will usually be vague or say “we have a partner factory.”

Our factory address is clear, and you are always welcome to visit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Where is your factory located?
A: Our company is located at No. 10-1 Lianhong Road, Yuanhua Town, Haining City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Q2: Why are some PS panels so brittle that they snap easily?
A: That’s most likely recycled material. Recycled PS has been melted down multiple times, breaking its molecular chains and losing all flexibility. We use 100% virgin material – our panels can bend to a certain angle without cracking.

Q3: Can PS panels be used in rooms with underfloor heating?
A: Yes. The heat deflection temperature of PS is about 70–80°C, while underfloor heating surface temperatures normally stay below 40–50°C. So it’s perfectly safe. Just don’t stick panels directly on top of the heating pipes (that’s for floor screed) – on walls, no problem.

Q4: Do PS panels look “plasticky” or cheap after installation?
A: That depends on the surface finish. Cheap products use simple lamination with high gloss and fake-looking textures. Our approach: matte finish with synchronous embossing – meaning the raised texture perfectly matches the printed grain. It’s hard to tell it apart from real wood or stone by sight or touch. Not sure? Ask for a sample and see for yourself.

Q5: Can your panels be used on curved walls?
A: Small curves (e.g., wrapping a column or rounded corner) are possible. PS panels have some natural flexibility, and we can groove the back to achieve even tighter radii. Send us your drawings and we’ll evaluate the best solution.

Q6: I’m a homeowner doing a small renovation – just 10–15 square meters. Do you sell that amount?
A: Yes. We have no minimum order quantity – even one carton works. We can also pre-cut the panels to your wall dimensions, saving you the trouble of cutting yourself. Shipping cost is calculated by actual weight.

Bottom Line

PS wall panels are a great wall material, but a poor-quality product will ruin the experience. Remember four things: virgin material, good wear layer, no formaldehyde, buy from a factory. If you’re unsure how to choose, just contact us. We’ll send you samples so you can compare.
